Peeling, resurfacing and other finishing processes
By providing additional equipment and tools, Fararou Steel Company has tried to meet all the needs of its customers with the highest quality and shortest time. One of these services is peeling and turning. This operation is performed on alloy rebars to optimize surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties. Some of the benefits of peeling operations are discussed below.
1- Improving Surface Quality: During production and rolling, the surface of the rebar may have scale, fine cracks, holes, or roughness. Peeling removes a layer of the surface uniformly, leaving a smooth and shiny surface.
2- Increasing dimensional accuracy and roundness of the rebar: After rolling, alloy rebars have limited accuracy in terms of size and ovality, and turning leads to achieving precise size and uniform surface, which is of great importance in some industries such as automotive and aviation.
3- Improved performance in machining operations: Unpeeled rebar will be more difficult to machine due to the surface roughness and oxide layer. Using peeled rebar will increase the life and speed of machining.
The benefits of peeling include reducing residual stress and improving dimensional stability, increasing corrosion and fatigue resistance, and preparing for subsequent operations such as chrome coating and plating.
Other facilities at the Fararo Steel Complex include the following:
Comb bed for hot bending of manufactured rebars up to 50 mm in size
Polishing of rebar up to 60 mm in size
Cold bending machine for bending rebar up to 110 mm in size
Hydraulic press for bending rebars from 110 to 185 mm in size
Cutting capabilities in various methods such as band saw, peak cutting.
